What is Yoga
In a very summarized way, Yoga is an ancient practice with a history of thousands of years, originating in India. It is a complete system designed to create harmony between the body, mind, and spirit.
Although Yoga includes a deep philosophy and many different paths, the most common practices today include Asanas (physical postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques), and Meditation.
Asanas help develop strength, flexibility, mobility, balance, and awareness of the body. Pranayama teaches us how to use the breath to regulate energy, calm the nervous system, and improve our connection between body and mind. Meditation trains the mind to become more present, focused, and aware.
Together, these practices can reduce stress, improve physical health, increase emotional balance, and create a deeper sense of inner peace and self-awareness.
The Styles I Teach
Hatha Yoga — Balance, Foundation Awareness
Hatha Yoga is a slower and more traditional style of Yoga that focuses on holding postures with awareness and connecting movement with the breath.
It is an excellent practice for beginners and anyone looking to improve strength, flexibility, posture, concentration, and overall balance between body and mind.
Vinyasa Yoga — Movement, Energy & Flow
Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic style where postures are connected through continuous movement synchronized with the breath.
This practice develops strength, mobility, endurance, coordination, and focus while creating a moving meditation that allows the mind to become fully present.
Yin Yoga — Stillness, Deep Release & Introspection
Â
Yin Yoga is a slow and meditative practice where postures are held for longer periods of time, targeting the deeper connective tissues of the body.
Yin encourages flexibility, joint mobility, relaxation, emotional awareness, and the ability to slow down and observe ourselves more deeply.
Restorative Yoga — Rest, Recovery & Healing
Restorative Yoga is a gentle and nurturing practice that uses props to fully support the body in comfortable postures for extended periods.
Its main purpose is to activate deep relaxation, reduce stress, calm the nervous system, support recovery, and create a space for physical and emotional restoration.
Gentle Yoga — Accessibility, Comfort & Connection
Â
Gentle Yoga is a soft and accessible practice designed to meet you exactly where you are. Through slow movements, simple postures, conscious breathing, and relaxation techniques, the practice encourages a safe and compassionate connection with your body.
It is ideal for beginners, older adults, people returning to movement after a long break, or anyone seeking a calmer and less physically demanding Yoga experience.
Every Yoga style offers a different experience, and each one can support you in different moments of your life. Whether you need strength, movement, stillness, or rest, there is a practice that can meet you where you are.
